Jung's Map of the Soul

the parts of the human psyche as described by Carl G. Jung and written about by Murray Stein

EGO

The 'I' or 'Me' part of the human psyche.

It is everything that makes us who we are, the things that make us unique. What we think, do or like. Who we have been in the past and who we aspire to become in the future.

PERSONA

The 'faces' or parts of our personalities we show to the world.

We tend to wear masks to hide our true feelings or emotions and show instead emotions that seem appropriate and accepted by society.

SHADOW

The 'faces' or parts of our personalities we hide from the world.

We bury parts of us deep within ourselves, negative emotions or traits we don't want others to see.

ANIMA/ANIMUS

The female and male aspects that make up our personalities.

We all carry feminine or softer traits within us, as well as masculine or stronger ones. They appear in unique combinations and intensities varying from person to person, no matter the gender.

SELF

We discover who we truly are when we become One with the Universe.

A lifelong journey will take us to the realisation that everyone and everything in the world is connected within that one force.
